Overview of the activities Yojana has developed together with BREADS/Bosco over the years
Yojana supports BREADS in the places Hospet, Davangere and Mysore. The support is focused on the prevention of child labor and to provide opportunities to children that have been working as child laborers.

Camp schools |
Trust is being won from the child laborers and their parents, who have been working in the iron ore mines. If possible children will flow into the regular education system. To date 820 children have succeeded. |

Shelter/bridging classes |
We organize bridging classes for children that have never been to school or left school for a longer period of time. They are being prepared to either go, or return to school. 70 children are staying in the hostel on a permanent basis. |

Coaching classes |
360 children in and around Hospet are coached to keep them at school |

Women’s groups |
112 women groups are working on the improvement of the position of women and girls. Much attention is being paid to education of children. The women are familiar with a loan and savings program. |

Task forces child labor |
Task forces with 234 members are meeting on a regular basis and undertake activities to push back child labor. |

Parent meetings |
Regular meetings with parents were organized to emphasize the importance of education of their children |

In 30 locations, 1985 children received additional education to prevent them from leaving school prematurely. |

Training of |
Village councils, government officials and police on children rights and awareness programs about child labor that lead to a more human approach of child laborers and more understanding during legal issues. |

Child rights clubs |
The numbers of child right clubs is increasing. (30 with 500 members as per Jan. 1th. 2010) The members of these clubs are discussing the rights and duties of the members. Child laborers are being returned to school on a regular basis. |

Shelter street children |
Annually 30 children are being freed from child labor and transferred to a hostel. |

Coaching classes |
To prevent untimely absence from school and therefore child labor we organize coaching classes for approximately 300 children. |

Social participation |
We organize health education programs and meetings where social bottlenecks are being discussed with representatives of the population to increase the involvement of the citizenry. |
